THE SECRET TO INTUITIVE THINKING
I am going to share this secret with you because no one else will. But then again, maybe no one else can because no one else knows... But if it is a secret, it is only because no one has dared or wanted to venture into inner space the way I have. Indeed, it need not be a secret at all, because the truth about Intuitive Thinking is there to discover for anyone who cares to look within. Seek (within) and you will find (within)!
However, at the present time I believe I am the only person to fully understand Intuitive Thinking - how it works and the far-reaching ramifications of the practice of Intuitive Thinking. This understanding did not come quickly or easily - it has taken me only half a century of exploring the workings of my mind, and a half a century of thinking about thinking. But Intuitive Thinking is a universal Truth that can and should be understood by all artists, and all non-artists, too.
Intuitive Thinking is the SECRET - the KEY to one's happiness, inner fulfillment, to wonderful human relationships, and to how one correctly deals with the ups and downs of life. Intuitive Thinking is the SECRET - the KEY to finding your Self. Your true Self that lies within, waiting for your attention.
This secret is the KEY to providing you with what you need to know or understand to create Art with a capital "A". And, for that matter, whatever else you need to know in life.
I hope you really want to know the truth and deal with reality, instead of myths that we all have been programmed or pressured to believe. How can we make correct decisions - in painting or in life - when they are based on falsehood? Falsehoods such as prejudices, pre-conceived notions, whatever - that have been pounded into us from some external source since we were a small, impressionable children.
Right here and now, I can only provide you with information - which for you, is knowledge acquired from a source outside of yourself - from someone or something that is of a physical nature. This is knowledge from a "foreign" source, because this information did not come from within your Self. Using words, I can explain to the Nth degree, but I cannot crawl into your head and MAKE you UNDERSTAND, or cause you to apply that knowledge properly. This is the nature of knowledge that you have learned or acquired - have ACCEPTED as valid from a "foreign", outside source.
Fortunately, I can facilitate your UNDERSTANDING and application of learned knowledge by presenting it in such a way so as to allow your inner source of knowledge, i.e. your Intuitive sense of reality, to RECOGNIZE the truth of this "outside" (to you) knowledge. (Have you ever wondered how you can know for certain whether something is really true or not?)
This, by the way, is NOT the method of teaching our parents, the educational system, and society have traditionally employed! Intuitive Thinking does not involve memorizing or learning by rote or by conditioning, or otherwise programming or forcing things into your head by whatever means available! Instead, it involves a free-flowing awareness of what you already intuitively know, how you think, what you think, and why. This free-flowing awareness leads to a true, deep understanding that wells up from within, as opposed to superficially and artificially acquired "foreign knowledge". All "foreign knowledge" is acquired from a source other than our innate Intuitive Center and this kind of knowledge becomes part of the arsenal of our Intellect.
To some degree most artists are already aware of having Intuition, but most do not have a clear understanding of the value or purpose of Intuition, or how it should or could be used.
My method, teaching you to understand and create Art through awareness and the correct relationship of the Intellect to Intuition, relies entirely in YOUR innate ability to RECOGNIZE truth and reality (same thing, basically). Yes, you do have this fantastic ability and you can trust it with your life. That is why I do not advocate "memorizing the rules" of art the way you learned the tables in school. I do not want you to blindly following rules or simply accept what I say as being true, without first knowing or understanding it to be true. I would like you to CONSCIOUSLY EXPERIENCE your RECOGNITION that what I present here to you IS true. There is a world of difference between accepting what I say as being true (not knowing whether you are accepting a lie as truth!), and recognizing it to actually BE true!
When you Know something to BE True or Right, you can have no doubt, no insecurity, no stress, no conflict!
If you recognize the Truth, you obviously already KNOW what that truth is, isn't that right? Otherwise you couldn't recognize it! It is a question of developing sensitivity to our Intuitive input - giving our whole attention to our Intuitive input.
Please understand that RECOGNIZING TRUTH (reality) IS INTERNALLY/SPIRITUALLY LIBERATING AND OPENS WIDE YOUR EYES AND MIND TO ART - TO EVERYTHING! The universe will be your oyster!
By contrast, learning by rote or simply memorizing and mindlessly following rules of art shuts down your Intuition and puts the tyrannical Intellect in control of your art, dulls your senses and causes you to be unable to think with clarity, inhibits true learning (i.e. gaining new or increased understanding), stifles creativity, and precludes the making of Great Art.
